Error 80000034 occurs when buying an Xbox Live membership

You see the following error code when you try to buy an Xbox Live membership:

Error code: 80000034

This may mean that your billing information was entered incorrectly.

Solution

Update your Xbox Live billing information

Sign in to your account, click My account, click Payment & billing, click Billing info and then make sure that your billing information is correct and up to date.
