"Your account has been suspended due to a problem with your payment option" sign-in error

You see the following error message when you try to sign in to Xbox Live:

Your account has been suspended due to a problem with your payment option

This may mean one of the following:

  • There's a problem with the billing information for your Microsoft account.
  • There's a problem with your payment option. For example, your payment option has expired. Therefore, we haven’t been able to charge your credit or debit card.
  • Auto renewal is turned on and your payment option has expired.

When this issue occurs, you can’t sign in to Xbox Live.

Solution

To resolve this issue, verify that your billing information is current and correct. Here's how:

  1. In a browser, go to Subscriptions at My Account.
  2. Sign in to the Microsoft account that you want to change.
    Note If you don't know your Microsoft account email address or password, use the Lost Account and Password Solution.
  3. For Xbox Live, select the subscription you want to review under Paid with.
  4. Verify that the information displayed matches the information used by your bank or credit card company.

If you need to update your billing information online, go to Update your billing information online.

If you need to update your payment options online, go to Manage your payment options online.

If you keep experiencing the problem, contact Xbox Support.
