Error 0x8000001E or error 0x8000001F occurs when connecting to your Xbox One console by using the SmartGlass app

You see one of the following error messages and errors when connecting to your Xbox One console by using the SmartGlass app:

  • We cannot connect to your console right now. 0x8000001E
  • We cannot connect to your console right now. 0x8000001F

This issue can occur if the following conditions are true:

  • You have Windows Phone 8 Emulator installed on a Windows 8-based or Windows 8.1-based device.
  • You try to connect to your Xbox One console from your Windows 8-based or Windows 8.1-based device,

For example, this issue can occur if Windows Phone 8 Emulator is installed on a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet.

Note Windows Phone Emulator is a component of the Windows Phone Software Development Kit (SDK).

Solutions

To resolve this issue, uninstall the virtual network switches that were installed when you installed Windows Phone 8 Emulator.

Note The virtual network switches are not automatically uninstalled when you uninstall the Windows Phone SDK 8.0.

  1.  Verify that the Windows Phone 8 Emulators are installed. To do this, follow these steps:
    • On the Windows 8-based or Windows 8.1-based device, open Control Panel and then open Network Connections.
    • In Network Connections, verify that the virtual network switches are installed.
  1. Uninstall the virtual network switches. To do this, follow these steps:
    • Open Hyper-V Manager.
    • Under Actions, select Virtual Switch Manager.
    1. Select the virtual network switch that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
    1. Repeat Step C for each virtual network switch that you want to remove, then click OK.
  1. On the Windows 8-based or Windows 8.1-based device, open Control Panel and then open Network Connections. Verify that the virtual network switches are not installed.
  1. Try to connect to your Xbox console by using the SmartGlass app.

Note The Windows Phone 8 Emulator will not work correctly after you uninstall the virtual network switches. To reinstall the virtual network switches, follow these steps:

  1. In Control Panel, open Programs and Features.
  2. Select Windows Phone 8 SDK, select Change, and then select Repair.
  3. Follow the instructions to repair the Windows Phone SDK 8.0.
