You see the following error code and message when making a purchase from your Xbox One console:

Error PBR141078
We couldn’t get authorisation for this. Try a different or new way to pay. If you have more questions, ask your bank.

Solutions

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions.

Solution 1: Contact your financial institution

Contact your credit card company or bank and enquire about your purchasing allowances and whether you have permission to make online purchases with your payment option.

Solution 2: Use a different payment option

To add a payment option, see Add a payment option online, and then select Add payment option on the left side of the screen.

To add a new payment option from your Xbox One console, follow these steps:

  1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select All Settings.
  4. Under Account, select Payment & billing.
  5. Select Add payment option.
