"Your credit card has been declined several times…” error occurs when renewing Xbox Live Gold

You see the following error message when you try to renew your Xbox Live Gold membership online:

Your credit card has been declined several times by our billing service

This may mean that your credit card has expired, or that information on your credit card has changed.

Solution

To resolve this problem, sign in to your account, select Payment & billing and then select Manage payment options. Make sure that your credit card expiry date hasn’t passed. Also, make sure that your contact information is correct. Click Add credit card or Change billing address if you need to make a change.
