One of the new features of Dance Central 2 is the ability to control parts of the game with your voice. For example, during gameplay you can say ‘Xbox Pause’ to pause the game.
Dance Central 2 voice commands are available for the following languages and countries:
|English||Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States|
You can use voice commands anytime you see a microphone icon and voice control tips. Say ‘Xbox Dance’ to activate the Voice Commander (voice recognition) from the following three areas:
Now you can use the following voice commands:
|Say this||To do this|
|‘Song song title’||Select a song*|
|‘Random Song’||Have the game select a random song|
|‘Mode game mode name’||Select a game mode|
|‘Difficulty difficulty level name’||Select a level of difficulty|
|‘Xbox Dance’||Start dancing (using the selected song, mode and difficulty)|
|‘Xbox Back’||Exit Voice Commander and return to the game menu|
*Song titles are in English only so Voice Commander may not accurately respond to song requests from non-native English speakers.
Note When Voice Commander is active, Dance Central 2 defaults to Perform It mode and Easy difficulty.
During gameplay say ‘Xbox Pause’ to pause the game, and ‘Xbox Dance’ when you’re ready to dance again.
Voice commands in Break It Down mode
While practising in Break It Down mode, you can say ‘Xbox’ to bring up a menu with the following commands:
|Say this||To do this|
|‘Slow Down’||Slow down a move|
|‘Speed Up’||Speed up a move|
|‘Skip’||Skip the next move|
|‘Previous’||Redo the previous move|
|‘Record Video’||Record your dance moves, so you can compare your moves with the on-screen trainer|
|‘Stop Video’||Stop recording your dance moves|
Note You don't have to wait for the voice commands menu to appear before you say a command.
French, Italian, German and Spanish: The Voice Commander is Off by default and the Pause and Break It Down voice controls are On by default.
To turn on the Voice Commander:
Note A pop-up appears warning that the experience might not be optimal, because song titles are in English only. Voice Commander may not accurately respond to song requests from non-native English speakers.
English and Japanese: All voice control categories are On by default.
If Dance Central 2 is not responding to your voice commands, try using voice commands from the Xbox Dashboard or another Kinect game. If voice commands are not working in several games or the Xbox Dashboard, do the following:
Solution 1: Check the Dance Central 2 language list
Make sure that voice recognition is supported for your language and country (see the table at the top of this page). If you’re using French, Italian, German or Spanish, see the Default Settings section on this page.
Solution 2: Update your console software
Try updating your console software. Several new languages and countries were added in the latest console software.
Solution 3: Use the Kinect audio tuner
