Error 80153016 occurs when you try to make a purchase on Xbox 360

You see the following error code and message when you try to make a purchase through your Xbox 360 console:

The offer you are attempting to purchase has changed since you retrieved Marketplace information. This action could not be performed at this time. Please try again later.
80153016

This means that the offer on the item you want to buy has changed since you last received Xbox 360 Marketplace information about the product.

Solutions

To resolve this issue, try these solutions in order. If the first one doesn't work, go to the next one.

Solution 1: Check for the offer online

Xbox 360 Marketplace has new sales and specials every week, and some offers are available for a limited time only. If you’re receiving this error code and message, either the offer that you’re trying to purchase is no longer valid, or there has been a recent change to the sale price.

Go to Xbox 360 Marketplace online to view the current offers available, and to determine if the offer you’re trying to purchase has changed.

Solution 2: Clear the system cache on your Xbox 360 console

To clear the system cache, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
The System Settings screen is displayed with 'Storage' selected.
  1. Highlight any storage device, and then press the Y button on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
  2. Select Clear System Cache.
The Device Options screen is displayed, with 'Clear System Cache' selected.
  1. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.
  2. Restart your Xbox 360 console.
  3. Sign in to your console, and then try to buy the item again.

Solution 3: Delete the Marketplace System Data file on your Xbox 360

If you cleared your cache but still weren't able to buy the item, trying deleting your Marketplace System Data file. Here's how:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
  3. Select your primary storage device.
  4. Select System Items.
  5. Select Marketplace System Data.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. Restart your Xbox 360 console.
  8. Sign in to your console, and then try to buy the item again.
