How to redeem an Xbox prepaid code
This article explains how to redeem prepaid codes so you can make Xbox purchases and extend your memberships. It also explains how to check your Microsoft account balance.
Prepaid codes usually come in the form of cards with a 25-character code on the back. You can purchase them yourself from a retailer, or you might receive them as a gift. You can use prepaid codes to make purchases without a credit card. You can redeem prepaid codes on your console or on a computer.

You can redeem all types of prepaid codes – including Xbox gift cards, Xbox Live gold cards and Xbox Music Pass cards – on a computer and have them applied to your account immediately. Here's how:
On a computer, go to
Redeem Code and click Sign In. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
Enter the 25-character prepaid code and click

Note Xbox One may not be available in all locales.
Games, and then select Use a code. Or, say “ Xbox, use code”. If prompted, sign in.
If you have a QR code, hold it up to your Kinect sensor.
If you do not have a QR code, select
Or enter the 25-character code, and then enter your code.
Xbox 360 console steps: Redeem a prepaid code
Sign in to Xbox Live using the account for which you want to use the prepaid code.
Guide button on the controller.
Games & Apps and select Redeem Code.
Enter the 25-character prepaid code and select
Done. When prompted, click
Yes to confirm the redemption.
