How do I sign up for the Xbox One Preview programme?

The Preview programme is by invitation only. If your friends are already in the programme, they can invite you by using the Invite friends page in the Xbox Preview Dashboard app.

How will I know if I've been selected?

You'll get a service message from us on your Xbox One. The message will include a link to download the Xbox Preview Dashboard app. You'll need to use the app to register your console for Preview updates.

I downloaded the Xbox Preview Dashboard app and registered my console, but I haven't gotten the update. Why?

Once you've registered, it can take up to 48 hours for your console to get the current Preview update.

I’ve opted into the New Xbox One Experience Preview. When will I get the new update?

This update will roll out in waves, starting with a small number of invited users who’ve had strong participation in the programme, and expanding to larger numbers of users over time.

The update will not be rolled out to everyone at the same time. New builds will regularly roll out over a period of several weeks to those who opt in, and our engineering team will work to improve the features and fix any bugs they identify throughout the Preview testing.

What should I do if I want to stop participating in the program?

If you decide that you don't want to get Preview updates anymore you can opt out in the Xbox Preview Dashboard app. You won't be removed from the programme straight away; it won't happen until the current update is released to the general public. If you change your mind, you can always re-register your console later using the Xbox Preview Dashboard app.

Here's how to remove your console from the Xbox Preview programme:

  1. Open the Xbox Preview Dashboard app.
  2. Select Registration.
  3. Under Manage flights, select Change.
    Note If you have more than one console in the programme, you can change their statuses by using Manage other consoles.
  4. Under Manage programmes, select Remove, and then select Submit. You'll be prompted to select a reason for leaving.

If you run into any issues, post in the private Xbox Early Access forums for help.

Note Your console won't be removed from the programme until the current Preview update is released to the general public, so it won't happen right away. Until then, your console's status will show as Pending.

What's the Xbox Preview Dashboard app?

The Xbox Preview Dashboard app is the place for Preview participants to give feedback about the programme, get the latest news, change console enrolment settings and report problems. If you've been invited to join the programme, you'll get a service message on your console with a link to download the app.

Where can I give feedback about the current software update and get help?

There's a private Xbox Early Access forum where you can:

  • Provide feedback about the update you're previewing. Tell us what you love, what you don't and how you'd like to see the preview features improved.
  • Get help from official Xbox Support staff and Xbox Community Ambassadors.

We want to hear all about your experience with the new features, apps and games in the preview. And we'll use your feedback to improve the preview waves.

I registered to preview the updates, but I don't have access to the private forum. How do I get access?

If you've registered to preview Xbox One updates but still get a “Group Not Found” error when you try to access the private Xbox One Early Access forum, your registration probably hasn't been processed yet. Once it goes through, you should receive access to the private Xbox Early Access forum within two working days.

If you can't visit any of the forums, make sure that you're signing in at Xbox Forums using the Microsoft account that's associated with your gamertag. If you're signed in but still have trouble accessing any of the forums, please contact us on Twitter at @XboxSupport for help.
