Nerdist app on Xbox 360

App requirements

To use the Nerdist app, you need the following:

  • To be signed in to an Xbox Live account.
  • At least 136 megabytes of available space.

Download the Nerdist app

To download the app, follow these steps:

  1. On your console, sign in with your Xbox Live gamertag.
  2. Go to apps, and then select Browse Apps or Search Apps.
  3. Browse or search for the Nerdist app.
  4. Select Nerdist, and then select Download.
  5. Select Confirm Purchase to download and install the app.

To start the Nerdist app later, go to apps, My Apps, and then Nerdist.

Watch Nerdist

  1. On your console, sign in with your Xbox Live gamertag.
  2. Go to apps, My Apps, and then select Nerdist.
  3. From the Featured hub, you can watch any of the programs displayed across the hub.
  1. You can also search through any of the hubs for content.
  2. Select something to watch, and then select Play.

Use Family Settings to control access to content

If you use Family Settings to control which movies and TV shows can be watched through Xbox Live on your console, the Nerdist app will follow those settings. For example, if you use parental controls to restrict access to some kinds of TV programs, those programs will be marked with a “restricted” icon in the Nerdist app. To play a restricted item, an adult must enter the Family Settings pass code.

Troubleshooting

Xbox Live connection problems

If the Nerdist app isn't functioning smoothly on your console, you may have a connectivity problem. See Troubleshoot Xbox 360 connection to Xbox Live.

Xbox 360 audio or video problems

The Nerdist app doesn't respond

If the Nerdist app doesn't respond, delete and reinstall it. Here's how:

  1. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to settings and then System.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Select your primary storage device.
  4. Select Games and Apps.
  5. Find and highlight the Nerdist app. Press the Y button to access Game Options.
  6. Select Delete, and then confirm that you want to delete all items related to the app.
  7. Go back to the Dashboard.
  8. Go to apps and then to Browse Apps or Search Apps.
  9. Browse or search for the Nerdist app and then select it.
  10. Select Download and then Confirm Purchase to download and install the app.

If the app still doesn't respond, contact Xbox Support.

Error messages

You may get one of the following error messages when you try to use the Nerdist app.

Connectivity errors

Sorry, Nerdist isn’t available right now. Please try again later. For more information, go to http://www.nerdist.com/

To resolve the error, follow these steps:

  1. Go to www.xbox.com/status to ensure there isn’t an issue with the service provider.
  2. If there’s no issue and you receive this error message when you try to launch the Nerdist app or content within the app, wait for approximately one minute. Then, try to launch the app again.
  3. If you continue to receive this error, delete the Nerdist app and reinstall.
  4. If this doesn’t resolve your problem, contact Xbox Support.

Availability errors

Sorry, the video you’ve requested is no longer available. Go to app home or exit the application and try again.

To resolve the error, follow these steps:

  1. Wait for approximately one minute. Then, try to launch the content again.
  2. If you continue to receive this error, return to the prior menu and select a different piece of content to watch.
