Error 87E00007 occurs when starting a game or an app that is downloading

You see the following error code when you try to start a game or an app:

87E00007

This may mean that an update is still being installed for the game or app you tried to start.

Solutions

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions.

Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status

If you see any alerts here, wait until the service is up and running and try again:

Xbox Live Core Services: up and running

Social and Gaming: up and running

Solution 2: Check for alerts in My games & apps

  1. Double-tap the Xbox button to go to the Home screen.
    Note Double-tapping the Xbox button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.
  2. Scroll down and select My games & apps.
  3. Find the title and check for an alert or a progress bar for the update.
  4. When the install completes, try launching the title again.
