Add a payment option to your Xbox Live account

Add a payment option Sign in to your Microsoft account to add a credit card or PayPal payment option.

Overview

You can have one or more payment options associated with your Xbox Live account. However, one payment option must always be linked to your Xbox Live membership and can't be removed without replacing it with another one. Payment options include:

  • Credit cards
  • Prepaid credit cards
  • Debit cards (not available in all regions)
  • PayPal accounts (not available in all regions; see Use PayPal with your Xbox Live account)
  • Direct debit (Germany only)

Online steps: Add a payment option

  1. In a browser on an Internet-connected device, go to “Manage your payment options” in My Account.
  2. If prompted, sign in using your Microsoft account.
  3. Under Add payment option, select Credit card or PayPal.
  4. Follow the prompts to set up your credit card, debit card or PayPal account as a new payment option.
    Note Enter debit cards as you would a credit card. (Not available in all locales.)

Xbox One console steps: Add a payment option

  1. Sign in using the Microsoft account that’s associated with your Xbox Live membership.
  2. Go to the Home screen.
  3. Press the Menu button on the controller.

    Note You can say “Xbox, go to settings” from any screen, but you’ll need a controller once you’re on the Settings screen.
  2. Go to Payment & billing.

  1. Select Add credit card or Add PayPal.

  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter the information for either your credit card or your PayPal account. When finished, your payment option will be added to your Xbox Live account and ready to use.

Xbox 360 console steps: Add a payment option

  1. Sign in using the Microsoft account that’s associated with your Xbox Live membership.
  2. From the Dashboard, go to settings and select Account.
  3. Select Manage Payment Options.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select Add Credit Card, and then enter the credit card information.
    • Select Add PayPal to use your PayPal account on Xbox Live.
    • Select Direct Debit to add a direct debit account (where available).
    • Update a payment option.
    • Remove a payment option.

    Note You must always have at least one payment option listed.
