“Sorry, there’s a problem with your billing address” error occurs when making a purchase on Xbox Live

You see the following error message when you try to make an Xbox Live purchase:

Sorry, there’s a problem with your billing address. Fix it in Settings, Account, Manage Payment Options, then come back to try again.

This may mean that part of the billing address associated with the payment instrument you have on file in your Xbox Live account is incorrect.

Solution

To resolve this problem, try the following solution:

  1. Go to My account.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account if necessary.
  3. Select Payment & billing.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select Manage Payment Options, and then tap or click Edit next to the payment instrument you are trying to use.
    • Select Change billing address.
  2. Correct the information.
  3. Follow the prompts to save the new information, and then try to make your purchase again.

If you keep experiencing the problem, contact Xbox Support.
