Error 809B1001 occurs when using your Kinect sensor on Xbox 360

You see one of the following error messages when using your Kinect sensor:

  • Player or play space not detected.
  • Kinect can't see anyone. Please try again.
  • The Kinect sensor is having trouble seeing you.
    809B1001

This may mean that the Kinect sensor is having body-tracking problems.

Solutions

Solution 1: Try using the Kinect Tuner

Solution 2: Try calibrating the Kinect sensor

If you've already tried using the Kinect Tuner, try calibrating the Kinect sensor. See Calibrate the Xbox 360 Kinect sensor.

Solution 3: Request a repair

If the previous solutions didn't resolve the problem, your Kinect sensor needs to be repaired. See Getting your Xbox console or Kinect sensor serviced.
