Solution 3: Restart your hardware and test your Xbox Live connection

Here’s how:

  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 console and your network hardware (such as your modem and router).
An Xbox 360 console connected to an Ethernet router.
  1. Wait 30 seconds.
  2. Turn on your modem and wait for it to come online (approximately one minute).
  3. Turn on the next piece of hardware (for example, your router) and wait another minute.
  4. Restart your Xbox console.

Once you’ve restarted your hardware, test your Xbox Live connection:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, select Settings, select System Settings and then select Network Settings.
  2. Select the name of your Wireless Network, or select Wired Network for a wired connection.
  3. Select Test Xbox Live Connection.

A successful network connection on the Xbox 360 console will have all green dots lit in the Test Xbox Live Connection screen.

Note If you’re prompted to update your console software, select Yes.
