Error 80070525 occurs when you use Xbox Live

Problem

You see the following error code and message when using Xbox Live:

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

Code: 80070525

This may mean either of the following:

  • You were trying to sign in to Xbox Live using a Microsoft account that has no security proofs associated with it and that isn't usually associated with the Xbox console that you’re using.

Note A security proof is a contact point (such as an email address or a phone number) that Microsoft can use to contact you on to confirm account ownership if we have concerns about the security of your account. Learn more about security proofs at Overview of Microsoft account security proofs.

  • You experienced a Network Address Translation (NAT) error.

Solutions

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions:

Solution 1: Add a security proof (or proofs) to your Microsoft account. For help, see Add a Microsoft account security proof.

Solution 2: Investigate and resolve any connectivity or NAT errors. For help, see Troubleshoot your Xbox Live connection.

If these solutions didn't work and you keep getting the error, contact Xbox Support.
