Set up your Kinect play space for Xbox One

Overview

It’s time to get your play space set up so that Kinect can see your whole body.

Setting up your play space

Use the following guidelines to make sure that your play space is ready for a great Kinect experience:

  • Clear the area between the sensor and the players.
  • One player: Stand back about 1.4 m (4 ft 7 in).
  • Two players: Stand back 6 feet (1.8 m).
  • Play space will vary by game, application and sensor placement.
  • Make sure the room has bright, even lighting.

Make sure that Kinect can see your feet if you’re playing a game that involves your whole body

The sensor can detect you if you are in a seated position. However, if you’re trying to play a game that involves your whole body but are seated and have a coffee table in front of you, Kinect might not be able to detect the movement of your feet.

Adjust the angle of the sensor

Once you’ve cleared your play space, it’s time to adjust the angle of the Kinect sensor. For more information, see Adjust the angle of your Kinect sensor.
