Xbox One changes channel to incorrect or partial channel number

When you try to change a channel through your Xbox One, an incorrect or partial channel number appears. For example, when you try to watch channel 360, the set-top box changes to channel 36 or 60.

This issue is most likely due to problems sending or receiving IR signals between your Xbox One and other devices. The most common causes are:

  • Physical obstructions in the room (for example, media cabinets)
  • Excessive direct sunlight
  • Incorrect settings on your Xbox One

Solutions

Solution 1: Make sure that the infrared receivers for your devices aren't blocked. Even glass cabinet doors might be a problem. You might need to connect an IR blaster (a device that emulates an infrared remote control) to your console and place it near the devices in your media cabinet. For more information, see Using IR extension cables with Xbox One.

Solution 2: Make sure that your devices aren't receiving too much direct sunlight. If they might be, consider moving them or blocking the sunlight in some way.

Solution 3: Try the troubleshooting solutions at Troubleshoot Xbox One OneGuide with your TV, AV receiver or set-top box.
