Use your Kinect for Xbox 360 with front-projection TVs

Positioning your Kinect sensor

The ideal position for the Kinect sensor is just above or below your TV screen, in line with the centre of the picture. Kinect can be placed anywhere from 0.6 to 1.8 metres (2 to 6 feet) from the floor.

Kinect cable is not long enough

If the sensor cable is not long enough for your conditions, you may need to move your Xbox 360 console or use a Microsoft-licensed extension cable.

The Kinect sensor cable is 2.7 m (9 feet) long, but you can increase the cable length by adding a 3-metre (10-foot) extension cable (sold separately). Learn more about Kinect accessories.

Room lighting for Kinect

Many front-projection TVs work best in a darkened room, but the Kinect sensor works best in a room with bright, even lighting. Learn more about room lighting conditions for Kinect.
