Remove a payment option from your Xbox Live or Xbox Music account

This article describes how to remove a payment option from your Xbox Live or Xbox Music account.

Note You can't remove the payment option that's associated with a membership unless you first provide a replacement payment option.

Remove a payment option by using Xbox.com

You can remove a payment option from your Xbox Live account on Xbox.com. Here's how.

  1. On a computer, go to Xbox.com.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account if necessary.
    Note
    If you don't know your Microsoft account credentials, see Find your Microsoft account email address.
  3. Select My Account.
  4. Select Payment & billing, and then select Remove payment option.

  1. Next to the payment option that you want to delete, select Remove.

  1. Click Yes to confirm the removal.

Remove a payment option by using your Xbox One console

Note Xbox One may not be available in all locales.

You can also remove a payment option from your Xbox Live account by using your Xbox One console. Here's how:

  1. Sign in using your Xbox Live-enabled gamertag.
  2. Go to the Home screen and select Settings, or say “Xbox, go to Settings”.
  3. Select Payment & billing.

  1. Go to the relevant payment option and select Edit.
  2. Follow the instructions to remove the payment option.

If you don’t want to add another payment option, you can turn off auto-renewal or contact Xbox Support for help removing your payment option. If you contact Xbox Support, have your gamertag and payment information available.

Remove a payment option by using your Xbox 360 console

You can also remove a payment option from your Xbox Live account by using your console. Here's how.

  1. On your Xbox 360 console, sign in using your Xbox Live gamertag.
  2. Go to settings and then Account.

  2. Select Remove Payment Option.
  3. Select the payment option that you want to remove.

If you don’t want to add another payment option, you can turn off auto-renewal or contact Xbox Support for help removing your payment option. If you contact Xbox Support, have your gamertag and payment information available.
