Age is determined by the date of birth associated with the Xbox Live account. Once the account holder reaches the age of majority (for example, 18 in the United States), that person can promote the account.
To promote an Xbox Live child account to an adult account, follow these steps:
Note The Promote Child Account option will only be available if the date of birth recorded for the account indicates that the account holder has reached adult age for the specific country or region.
Note Steps 6 to 9 apply only to accounts that are currently billed to a credit or debit card. If your account has a prepaid membership, go to step 10.
Note You can use the same credit card again. However, you must re-enter the credit card details.
Note If your Xbox Live account does not change to an adult account, sign out and then sign in again.
