You can cancel your Xbox Live Gold subscription at the end of its current term by turning off the auto renewal feature in your Microsoft account.
If you turn off auto renewal, you’ll still be able to use Xbox Live Gold until the end of your subscription period. You will still receive a charge for the current billing period, but your subscription will not be renewed after that.
To turn off auto renewal:
Sign in to the Subscriptions page of your Microsoft account. You may be asked to verify that you're the account owner by entering a security code on the website. You’ll receive this code by either text or email. Once you’ve entered the security code and been confirmed, tap or click Next.
Select Cancel automatic payment for the subscription that you’d like to cancel. (If you don't see an option to cancel automatic payment, then auto renewal is already turned off.)
You’ll be prompted to review the Xbox Live Gold subscription features that you’ll no longer be able to access if you turn off auto renewal. If you still wish to turn it off, click Continue.
Set “Automatic Renewal” to OFF, and then click Continue.
You’ll then be asked to select a reason why you’re canceling your subscription. Choose the option that best fits your reason for cancelling, and then click Return to Your Xbox Account.
If you don't see your subscription, make sure that you're signed in to the correct account.
If you’re trying to manage a subscription for your child, you must sign in to your child's account to turn off auto renewal.
If you live in the United States and have the Xbox 360 Entertainment For All Plan (formerly "2 Year Xbox Live Gold Contract"), and it's before the end of the two-year term, you're effectively cancelling the subscription and will be charged an Early Termination Fee along with any applicable taxes. At the end of your two-year agreement, your account will not be renewed automatically, as auto renewal is not activated. If you accidentally cancelled your Xbox 360 Entertainment For All Plan, contact Xbox Support for help reactivating your membership.
