How to set up auto renewal for Xbox Live Gold subscriptions

Overview

When you sign up for an Xbox Live Gold subscription, renewal happens automatically. If you've turned automatic renewal off and want to turn it back on, this page will tell you how.

Turn on automatic renewal

When you purchase an Xbox Live Gold subscription, automatic renewal turns on by default if you have a payment option associated with your account. If you’ve turned automatic renewal off but want to turn it back on, follow these steps.

  1. Go to account.microsoft.com.
  2. In the first box, type your Microsoft account email address.
  3. In the second box, type your Microsoft account password, and then select Sign in.
  4. Under Services & subscriptions, scroll to the subscription you want to renew, and then select Renew.
  5. Review the details, and then select Confirm auto-renew.

Note You can't use auto renewal for a prepaid subscription. If you have a prepaid subscription, you won't see the Renew option under your subscription.
