Why am I repeatedly prompted to enter my Microsoft account information when I accept the Terms of Use online?

If you're experiencing a problem accepting the Terms of Use online, try accepting the Terms of Use from your console.

Why am I getting a message that my password is invalid when I try to accept the Terms of Use?

You may be getting this message for the following reasons:

  • You're using an incorrect combination of email address and password.
  • Your Microsoft account has been enabled for two-step verification.
  • Incorrect combination of email address and password

If you're getting this message and your Microsoft account hasn't been enabled for two-step verification, confirm that the following are correct:

    • Confirm that you're correctly spelling the password

If you forgot the password for your Microsoft account, see Recover your Microsoft account password.

    Two-step verification

You may have enabled two-step verification to protect your Microsoft account. To check, sign into account.live.com and click Security Info. If two-step verification is enabled and you want to turn it off, click Turn off two step verification. If you leave two-step verification enabled, then you'll need to use an app password to sign in to your Xbox profile. To learn more about using an app password, see App passwords and two-step verification.

If I don’t accept the new Terms of Use, what happens?
