Error 8016ABA5 occurs when you try to make a purchase or redeem points on Xbox Live

You see the following error and message when you try to make a purchase or redeem points on Xbox Live:

8016ABA5

Can't retrieve information from Xbox Live. Please try again later.

This may mean that there’s a problem with your account billing information.

Solution

To resolve this issue, enter your correct billing information. Here’s how:

  1. Select Settings, and then select Account.
  2. On the Account Management screen, select Billing Information.
  3. Press A.
  4. Enter the password for your Microsoft account, and then select Done.
  5. Select Sign In.
  6. Enter your correct billing information, and then select Done.
  7. Select Ok.

If you keep experiencing the problem, contact Xbox Support.
