Error C0051209 occurs when your Xbox 360 Kinect sensor isn't level

You see the following error message when using the Kinect sensor on your Xbox 360 console:

Error: The Kinect Sensor is not level

Error code: C0051209

This may mean that your Kinect sensor is not on a level surface.

Solution

To resolve this problem:

  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 console.
  2. Make sure the Kinect sensor is positioned on a flat, level surface.
  3. Turn on your console to see if the problem still occurs.

This error can also occur if your sensor is very hot or very cold. In that case, wait for the sensor to reach room temperature (approximately 70°F or 21°C), and then try using the sensor again.

If this solution didn't resolve the problem, your Kinect sensor needs to be repaired. See Getting your Xbox console or Kinect sensor serviced.
