Error 80070020 occurs when you launch an app on your Xbox One console

You see the following error code when you use your Xbox One console:

Error 80070020

This error can occur if you try to launch an app that is already running.

Solutions

If the app or game was recently used, try the following solutions:

Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status

If you see any alerts here, wait until the service is up and running and try again:

Xbox Live Core Services: up and running

Solution 2: Quit and relaunch the app

  1. Use your left stick or D-pad to scroll down and point to the app in the recently used apps section of the Home screen.
  2. Press the Menu button on your controller.
  3. Select Quit.
  4. Launch the app again.

Solution 3: Restart the console.

  1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.

    Note Double-tapping the Xbox button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.

  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Restart console.
  4. Select Yes to confirm.
  5. Try launching the app again.

Note If you're unable to access the guide or if the console appears to be frozen, press and hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds, until the console turns off. After the console shuts down, touch the Xbox button on the console again to restart. Try launching the app again.
