How to manage your activity feed and privacy in the Friends app on Xbox One

The activity feed inside the Friends app on your Xbox One console allows you to communicate with your friends. You can make a general post by selecting Got something to say?, or you can comment on any of your friends’ achievements and GameDVR clips.

For information on managing your own or your child’s privacy settings, see Manage Xbox One privacy and online safety and child accounts.

Who can comment in my activity feed?

For adults, anyone can comment on posts in your activity feed. To change who can add comments, update your privacy settings under Communicate with voice and text. You can do this in the Friends app by selecting My profile, Privacy settings, and then Communicate with voice and text.

Adults can also see comments and captions made by anyone else on Xbox Live. If that doesn't appeal to you, you can change it in your privacy settings under See content other people make. You can do this in the Friends app by selecting My profile, Privacy settings, and then See content other people make.

In both cases, teenagers and children start with more restrictive settings. See Default privacy and online safety settings on Xbox One for more information.

Who can see my activity feed?

For adults, anyone can take a look at what's going on in your activity feed. (Teenagers and children start with more restrictive settings.) Here are other things that they can do:

  • Like something in your feed
  • Share something in your feed with someone else
  • See who liked or shared something
  • Read your friends' comments

To change your activity feed preferences, update your privacy settings under See your game and app history. You can do this in the Friends app by selecting My profile, Privacy settings, and then See your game and app history.
