Xbox One achievements and challenges

Learn about achievements, challenges, and how to earn rewards and increase your gamerscore on your Xbox One console. If you need help viewing or unlocking your Xbox One achievements and challenges, see Problems with Xbox One achievements and challenges.

What are achievements?

Achievements are rewards for completing special activities in a game. The actions required to earn an achievement vary from title to title and are limited only by the developer’s creativity. Completing achievements earns gamerscore and potentially other rewards.

Note You must be connected to Xbox Live to unlock an achievement and boost your gamerscore. If you complete the requirements for an achievement while you're offline, it will unlock as soon as you connect. If you've signed up for Xbox Live Rewards, unlocking achievements and boosting your gamerscore can lead to potential rewards. Find out more at Xbox Live Rewards.

What are challenges?

Challenges are timed events for games and apps. They’re similar to achievements but are typically oriented toward completing new tasks. Challenges do not earn gamerscore but may bring other rewards.

How do I track achievements in the game I’m playing?

While playing a game, you can snap the Achievements app to:

  • See the current progress on your achievements for that game.
  • Pin an achievement to keep track of its progress.
  • Search for help on the web to complete achievements.

How to snap the Achievement app

  1. Launch the game you want to play.
  2. Double-tap the Xbox button on your controller.
  3. Select Achievements Tracker from the list of snap apps.

Press A on an achievement to get the option to pin it to the top of the list or to search for achievement help.

How do I see my achievements?

You can see what achievements and challenges are available by navigating to the achievements area under your profile:

  1. Scroll left from the Home screen to open the guide.
  2. Under the Sign-in area at the top, select View profile.
  3. Scroll right to Achievements.

Under Achievements, you’ll see the games you’ve played most recently at the top. Select a game to view more information about it.

How do I see my friends’ achievements?

You can see the achievements your friends have earned by viewing their profile. Simply select their name under the Friends section of the guide, and then select View Profile.
