The Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote lets you control your TV and Xbox 360 DVD and CD playback, Windows Media Center, and the Xbox Dashboard.

To insert the batteries into your Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote, follow these steps:
Program your Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote for a TV
Before you can use your Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote with a TV, you must program the remote control for use with the specific brand of the TV that you're using. You can manually enter the TV code, or you can perform a scan to find the TV code.
The Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote manual includes a code list that covers many popular TVs. For the most current list of TV library codes, go to the Xbox 360 Media Remote (New) page.
Note When you program your Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote, the remote control will exit the screen after 30 seconds of inactivity. Press any button except buttons 0 through 9, CH+, or CH– to return the remote control to the original settings.

Note If the remote control does not function correctly after you set the TV code, try a different code from the same TV manufacturer, or scan for another code.
You can only use the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote with the Xbox 360 console, TVs, or a Windows XP Media Center computer. You cannot use the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote with VCRs, DVRs, DVD players, or other audio equipment.

If you are set up to use Windows Media Center on your Xbox 360 console, pressing the button will start Windows Media Center. If you are not yet set up to use Windows Media Center on your console, pressing the button will start the Windows Media Center setup wizard.
The Windows Media Center button will also turn on the console if it is off.TV Mode
To use the Universal Media Remote with your TV, press the TV button before the other TV control buttons. When the remote is in TV mode, the buttons will not glow until you press them.
