Error "Fix this on the web" occurs when signing in to Xbox One

You see the following error message when trying to sign in to your Xbox One console:

Fix this on the web

This may mean that Microsoft has locked your account because of a suspected attempt to sign in to your account by an unauthorized third party.

Solution

Remove the block on your account by signing in to your account in a browser and confirming your identity:

  1. Sign in at account.microsoft.com.
  2. A security code will be sent to the phone number or email address you provided for security notifications. Follow the instructions provided to verify the information on your account and reset your password (as a safety precaution).

Once you've completed these steps online, you'll be able to sign in to your account on the console with your new password.
