Wireless Networking Adaptor

Overview

Note The Xbox 360 S console has built-in Wi-Fi and a wireless networking adaptor is not needed.

There are two versions of the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adaptor:

Works with 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n wireless routers and access points.

Works with 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g wireless routers and access points.

Troubleshooting

The Xbox 360 console does not detect the wireless network
Try the following: My console receives a weak wireless signal
Try the Improve Xbox Live speed solutions.

The status light on the adaptor changes colour, does not light up or blinks
If your adaptor displays:
  • No light

    The adaptor is not receiving power. Unplug the USB connector, and plug it in again. If there is still no light, try plugging the adaptor into a USB port on the front of the console. If the adaptor works in the front USB port, see The wireless adaptor works in some USB ports.

    If it is still not working, the adaptor might be experiencing a hardware failure. Order a new adaptor from the Xbox Online Service Centre.

    Note Product Registration may be required.

  • A solid green light

    The adaptor is connected to a wireless router, gateway or access point.

  • A flashing green light

    Black adaptor with two antennae (wireless N adaptor): The adaptor is attempting to connect to a wireless network.

  • A solid red light

    Black with two antennae (wireless N adaptor): The adaptor is not recognised. Try plugging the adaptor into a USB port on the front of your console.

    Grey with one antenna (wireless G adaptor): The adaptor is ready for the next step: Configure and test your connection.

  • A flashing red light

    The adaptor might be experiencing a hardware failure.

    Order a new adaptor from the Xbox Online Service Centre.

The wireless adaptor works in some USB ports, but not in others
Test the USB ports
  1. Test the wireless adaptor in all of the USB ports on the Xbox 360 console.
  2. If the adaptor works in one USB port but not another, try connecting another accessory to the USB port where the adaptor did not work.
  3. If a USB port does not work with any accessory, your console might need to be repaired. Submit an online repair request.
