Error message on Xbox One: "Your account is blocked from buying in Xbox stores"

You see the following error message when you try to make a purchase on your Xbox One:

Your account is blocked from buying in Xbox stores. For more info, go to Xbox.com/PurchaseBlock

This may mean:

  • There’s a temporary problem with the Xbox Live service.
  • A privacy and online safety setting for your Microsoft account prevents you from making a purchase.
  • Your Xbox One console or Microsoft account is banned.

Solutions

Solution 1: Check the status of the Xbox Live service

Check for service alerts on the Xbox Live Status page, or see if an Xbox Live service alert appears at the top of this page. If there are any service alerts, wait a while and then try again.

Solution 2: Check the settings on your Microsoft account

A privacy and online safety setting for your Microsoft account may be preventing you from making purchases. Sign in to Privacy & Online Safety and review your settings.

Solution 3: If your console or Microsoft account is banned

For information about account and console bans, see Xbox Live bans and suspension information.
