Missing setup key for Xbox 360 and Windows Media Center

Overview

During setup, the Windows Media Center app for Xbox 360 should provide you with a setup key to enter on your Windows Media Center PC. The setup key may not appear if you’ve previously set up Windows Media Center on your console. This page describes how to resolve the problem.

Remove the existing computer connection

To fix this problem, remove the existing computer connection. Here's how:

  1. On your console, go to the Settings and then System.
  2. Select Computers.
  3. Select Windows Media Center.
  4. Select Disconnect.
  5. Go back to Xbox Home. Select Apps and then My Apps.
  6. Select Windows Media Center.
