To replace your Xbox Live payment option, first add a new payment option to your account. Then, you can remove your existing payment option and transfer any associated subscriptions to a new or existing payment option.

Online steps: Replace the payment option used for your membership

First, you must add a new payment option to your account. To do this:

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft account billing website.
  2. On the Subscriptions page, select the subscription that you want to modify and then click Change payment option.
  3. Select the payment option that you want to use from the list of active payment options or select Add a new payment option, and then click Next.
  4. If you chose an existing payment option, skip to the next step. If you chose to add a new payment option, enter the information required and click Next, then select your new payment option and click Next again.
  5. Review the confirmation message and then click Change to confirm the change.
  6. You will receive a message on the screen notifying you if the change was successful.

Next, you can remove a payment option and transfer your associated subscriptions:

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft account billing website.
  2. On the Payment options page, select the payment option you want to remove and then click Remove.
  3. If there are subscriptions associated with that payment option, follow the prompts to transfer each subscription to a new or existing payment option. Otherwise, click Remove to confirm the removal.

Xbox One console steps: Replace the payment option used for your membership

First, you must add a new payment option to your account. To do this:

  1. Sign in using the Xbox Live gamertag that’s associated with the membership for which you want to replace the payment method.
  2. Go to Settings and select Subscriptions.
  3. Select Manage Payment options, and then select Switch Payment options.
  4. Under Switch Payment Options, select the new payment option, follow the steps to add details, and then select OK.

Next, you can remove your previous payment option:

  1. Return to Manage Payment options.
  2. Select Remove Payment Options.
  3. Follow the steps to remove your payment option.

Xbox 360 console steps: Replace the payment option used for your membership

First, you must add a new payment option to your account. To do this:

  1. Sign in using the Xbox Live gamertag that’s associated with the membership for which you want to replace the payment method.
  2. Go to settings and select Account.

  1. Scroll right to Your Memberships and select the membership you want to update.
  2. Select Change Payment Options.
  3. If this option appears grayed out, you may have to select Modify Membership to select a plan, or see Add a payment option to your Xbox Live account.

  4. Select the new payment option, and then select OK.

Next, you can remove your previous payment option:

  1. Return to Change Payment Options.
  2. Select Remove payment option.
  3. Follow the steps to remove your payment option.
