Find the answers to commonly asked questions about Coinstar and how you can use it to purchase Microsoft prepaid code cards.

Solutions

On the Coinstar kiosk, I only see an option for "Xbox Live.” How do I choose between a Microsoft gift card and Xbox Live Gold Memberships?

When you use cash or coins at Coinstar and select the Xbox Live option, you will receive an eCertificate. This eCertificate can be used to get Xbox Live Gold Memberships, a Microsoft gift card, or both at Get Xbox Live Codes at Coinstar.

Note You don't have to choose between Xbox products on the Coinstar kiosk.

What is the minimum purchase amount at the Coinstar kiosk?

You must use at least $5.00 in cash or coins at a Coinstar kiosk to receive an eCertificate for Xbox.

How much do I need to buy Xbox Live on Coinstar?

Xbox Live Gold Memberships can only be purchased in 3-month and 12-month periods, for $24.99 and $59.99, respectively. Microsoft gift cards are available for $15, $25, and $50.

I redeemed an eCertificate for Xbox products, but I didn’t use all the value. What can I do with the remainder?

You need a total eCertificate value of at least $15.00 to get the smallest available Microsoft gift card. The remaining value on your eCertificate does not expire. Store it in a safe place and combine it with another eCertificate in the future to get additional Xbox products.

I have an eCertificate that’s worth less that the cost of a gift card or Xbox Live membership. How do I use this to get more Xbox products?

You can combine the eCertificate with other eCertificates to be able to purchase additional Xbox products.

I have two eCertificates. How do I combine them to get Xbox products?

  1. Go to Get Xbox Live Codes at Coinstar and tap or click Combine 2 or more PINs. The Combine Multiple PINS dialog

  1. Click Combine PINs.

The value of your two eCertificates will be added together.

When I combine two PINs, will I get a new PIN?

No. The value of the two PINs will be temporarily added together so you can get a higher-value Xbox product, but if you cancel your transaction, each PIN will return to its previous value.

If the combined value of your two PINs is more than the price of the Xbox product you purchase, one of your PINs will be fully depleted, and the excess value will remain associated with the other PIN.

How do I check the value of a PIN?

    • If you don't want to use any of your PIN's value immediately, click Cancel. You can use the remaining value associated with your PIN (as long as it's more than $4.99) at any time.

I redeemed an eCertificate for various Xbox product codes, but I forgot to redeem one of the codes into my Microsoft account. How do I find my Xbox product codes again?

Here's how:
