Buy and download PC games

Buy PC games

You can buy downloadable PC games from the Games for Windows Marketplace. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Games Marketplace.
  2. At the upper-right, click Sign In, and then sign in using your Microsoft account.
  3. Browse the catalog of available games, add-ons, demos, and videos.
  4. When you find a game that you want, click it, and then click Buy for PC (this applies to free games as well).
  5. Review your payment method. You can use a credit card that’s already linked to your Microsoft account, or you can add a new credit card.
  6. Click Confirm purchase.
  7. Click Download Your Purchase Now to download your purchase using the Games for Windows Marketplace client, or click Done to download it later.
  8. If you click Download Your Purchase now and already have the Games for Windows Marketplace client installed, you are prompted to start the client and download your game. To learn how to install the client, see the “Download purchased games” section.

After you’ve purchased a game, it is associated with your account. You can then download it any time through the Games for Windows Marketplace client.

If you haven’t already downloaded and signed in to the Games for Windows Marketplace client, you’ll need to do that first. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Games for Windows Marketplace client page.
  2. Click Download.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Sign in to the Games for Windows Marketplace client using your Microsoft account.
Download your purchased game using the Games for Windows Marketplace client

If you’ve already purchased a game, you can find and download it in the Games for Windows Marketplace client. Here’s how:

  1. In Games for Windows Marketplace client, click the Downloads tab.
  2. Locate the game you want to download, and then click Download for that game.

After you’ve purchased, downloaded, and installed the game, you can start it by clicking the Play button inside the Games for Windows Marketplace client. Or you can click Start, click All Programs, and then click Games.
