Troubleshooting Kinect audio problems

• Turn off digital effects on your audio receiver or TV. Digital effects include reverb, compression, simulated 3D sound, and synthesized surround sound modes.
• If you are using a TV and an audio receiver at the same time, turn off the volume on the TV.
• Position the sensor at least 1 foot (.3 m) away from speakers, fans, or any other noise source. At louder volumes, you might need to have at least 3 feet (.9 m) between the sensor and any speakers.
• Make sure that all speakers are connected and that the console audio settings match the configuration of your speakers. For example:

• If you are using a TV and an audio receiver at the same time, turn off the volume on the TV.
• Start the Kinect audio tuner.
• If you hear only an echo during Xbox LIVE gameplay, the problem might be with another player’s Kinect sensor. Ask the other player to use the Kinect audio tuner.

• Make sure that all speakers are connected to your sound system.
• If your sound system has speaker switches, make sure that the switches are on.
• If your sound system has a receiver mode, make sure that the setting matches the number of speakers connected. For example:
