How to resolve Kinect body tracking errors

Symptoms

While using your Kinect sensor, you see one of the following error messages:

Player or play space not detected.

Kinect can't see anyone. Please try again.

The Kinect sensor is having trouble seeing you.

Things to try

Try using the Kinect Tuner. Learn how.

If you have already tried using the Kinect Tuner, try calibrating the Kinect sensor. Learn how.

If you continue to see this message after using the tuner and restarting your console, please contact Xbox Support. See the Assistance section at the bottom of this page for more information.
