Kinect sensor is too hot

Troubleshooting

The Kinect Sensor is too hot (C0051200)
Make sure there's enough ventilation around the device. Then after the sensor has cooled unplug it and plug it back in again.

  1. If you see this error message, here’s what to do:
  2. Make sure the Kinect sensor is not near a heat source such as an air vent or sunlight.
  3. Make sure nothing is covering the sensor.
  4. Allow the sensor to cool (it should be cool to the touch).
  5. Turn your Xbox 360 console off.
  6. Unplug the sensor and then plug it back into the console.
  7. Turn on the console and see if the problem still occurs.

If these steps do not solve the problem, the sensor will need to be repaired. To start the online repair process, go to myservice.xbox.com.
