Note As of November 15, 2015, the Zune service has been discontinued. This may cause errors when attempting to stream or download content or update the service. For more information, see the Zune retirement FAQ.
Podcasts are audio or video files that you can subscribe to online. Typical podcast content includes radio and TV programs, news shows, musical performances, and technology reviews. They’re often distributed on a periodic basis or as a regular series.
You can add podcasts to your Zune collection by subscribing to them at the Zune Marketplace. Each time a new episode of the podcast is released, the Zune Music + Video software will automatically download it for you and save it to your collection, under Podcasts. If you want to subscribe to a podcast that isn't in the Zune Marketplace, you can subscribe to it from the podcast’s website.

To download a single episode of a podcast
You don’t have to subscribe to an entire series if you just want to listen to one episode. Here’s how to download an individual episode:
To unsubscribe from a podcast
If you decide that you don't want a podcast, you can unsubscribe. Here’s how:
Playing podcasts on your computer
Playing podcasts on your Windows Phone 7 or Zune player
On your device, go to Podcasts and you should see your new episodes in there.
When you stop a podcast part way through, the Zune software records and bookmarks the place where you stopped. You can resume from that spot later when you play the episode again. If you sync the episode to a device, the bookmark is also synced. The next time you play that podcast after you sync, you'll pick up where you left off.
You can choose to download episodes in any order, from newest to oldest. For example, if you’re downloading news podcasts, you’ll probably want to listen to the latest one first. Alternatively, if you’re listening to a language course podcast, you’ll probably want to start from the beginning and download the oldest episode first.
If you choose the newest episode first, Zune will download new episodes and delete the old ones, even if you haven't played them. If you choose to play the oldest episodes first, Zune won't download the next episode until you play the existing one.
You can change the playback order separately for each podcast series.
Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone 8.0, or Zune
Thank you for your interest in Podcasts. We are no longer supporting an active database of podcast feeds for Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone 8.0, or Zune. Please see the instructions below for enabling podcast discovery in Bing.
Windows Phone 8.1
Windows Phone 8.1 uses a Bing-enabled web search mechanism to locate podcasts. To improve the search results of your podcast, add "feed:podcast" to your keywords tag within the RSS podcast feed. Podcasts can also be located by entering the RSS feed directly into the podcast app search window.
Improve Bing-enabled podcast search results
By using Bing Webmaster Tools, you can tell Bing about your site. In return, Bing Webmaster Tools tells you how well your site is performing in Bing and Bing-powered search (including Yahoo!) and keeps you up to date about issues we see on your site.
To inform us about sitemaps or RSS feeds, including those containing podcasts, follow these steps:
Within a few hours, you’ll see whether Bing successfully downloaded your sitemap or feed so that it can be indexed.
