How to edit the metadata in your music or video collection

“Metadata” is used to categorize audio and video files in your collection. If items in your collection are not tagged correctly, you can edit the metadata two different ways: by using the Xbox Music app or manually through the Windows operating system.

Using the Xbox Music app

Automatically edit missing metadata:

  1. Start the Music app and go to Settings and Preferences.
  2. Set Media Info to On.
