Xbox Music app playlists are missing songs when viewed on a Windows Phone 8

Overview

You create and add a playlist in the Xbox Music app on Windows 8 with your Xbox LIVE account. But when you view the playlist on your Windows Phone 8, not every song in the playlist is listed.

Solution

This issue happens because Windows Phone 8 only shows songs on a playlist if the songs are currently in your cloud collection. To resolve this issue, add the missing songs on playlist to your cloud collection:

  1. Sign in to the Xbox Music app on a Window 8-based device.
  2. Locate the song in the Music Store:
    • Use the Add to my music button to download and it add to your cloud collection.
    • Open the playlist in the My Music area, and then select Download to add the song to your cloud collection.
  3. Repeat step 2 for each missing song.
  4. Sync your Microsoft account on the Windows Phone 8 phone:
    • Tap Settings, tap Email and Account, tap and hold on your Microsoft account, and then choose Sync.
