Connect and use the Xbox 360 Wired Headset

Overview

You can chat with friends on Xbox LIVE using the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset.

Xbox LIVE has a variety of ways to chat:

Note The Kinect sensor has a built-in microphone used for speech recognition and chat. If you have a Kinect sensor, a headset may not be needed.

To connect a wired headset

1. Turn down the headset volume by rotating the volume control all the way to the left.

To adjust the volume: Rotate the volume-control knob.

To mute: Switch the microphone button on the headset cable.

2. Insert the headset plug into the expansion port on your game controller.

3. Put on your headset and adjust the microphone.
