Troubleshoot the Crunchyroll app on Xbox Live

Xbox Live connection problems

If content does not play smoothly in the Crunchyroll app, you may be experiencing a connectivity problem. See Issues with connection speed or disconnects.

The Crunchyroll app doesn't respond

If the Crunchyroll app doesn’t respond, delete and reinstall it. Here’s how:

  1. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to Settings and then System.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Select your primary storage device (most likely Xbox 360 Hard Drive).
  4. Select Games and Apps.
  5. Find and select any items that refer to Crunchyroll.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. Return to the Xbox Dashboard.
  8. Go to Browse Apps, and then select Crunchyroll.
  9. Select Confirm Download to download and install the app.

If you keep getting this error, contact Xbox Support.

Error messages

You may receive one of the following error messages when you try to use the Crunchyroll app.

  • Connectivity errors
    Error messages:
    • Sorry, the Crunchyroll server failed to respond. Please select the retry button below or try again later. For more information, go to
    • The Crunchyroll server is not available at this time.

    If you receive one of these error messages, go to Service Status to ensure that there’s not a problem with Xbox Live or with the Crunchyroll app.

    If there’s no problem with Xbox Live and you receive one of these error messages when trying to launch the Crunchyroll app, wait approximately one minute and then try launching the app again. If after re-launching the app you receive one of these error messages, try deleting and then reinstalling the app.

    If you continue to receive one of these error messages, see Improve Xbox Live Speed and try to improve your connection speed.

    If none of these solutions work, contact Xbox Support.

  • Account errors
    Error messages:
    • You must be a Premium member to use this app.
      Please visit to start your free trial.
    • {0} or All-Access membership is required for this content

    If you receive one of these error messages, it means there's a problem with your Crunchyroll account. Crunchyroll offers the following three types of paid accounts for a subscription fee:

    • Anime Premium = Anime only
    • Drama Premium = Drama only
    • All-Access = Both Anime and Drama

    The paid account that a user signs up for determines which content the user can watch using the Crunchyroll app. Users who don't have a subscription must visit to sign up for one of these accounts.

  • App errors
    Error messages:
    • You have no recently watched items.
    • Note Any recently viewed content should be displayed by selecting the History tile on the Queue hub.

    • You have no items in your queue. Browse and add shows that interest you to keep track.
    • Note When you select a piece of content to watch, you should be given the choice to add it to your content queue by using the Add to Queue tile.

    If your content viewing history is not being displayed, or if after adding content to your queue you don't see it in My Queue, contact Crunchyroll at their Contact Us page to notify them of the error.

  • Availability errors
    Error messages:
    • Sorry, there are no results matching the selected series/season combination.
    • Sorry, no items were found.
    • Sorry, this video is currently unavailable. Please contact us at for more information.
    • We’re sorry. We couldn’t find any item matching this search. Please try something else.
    • Sorry, could not find any related series for this show.
    • There are no results matching the selected filter. Please modify your criteria to see results.
    • This video has not been released yet. It will be available for Premium Members in {0}.
    • Sorry, the item you're interested in is no longer available.

    If you receive one of these error messages, return to the prior menu app and select a different piece of content to watch. To notify Crunchyroll about one of these errors, go to the Crunchyroll Contact Us page.
