Overview

This article describes how to resolve problems with the ENCORE Play app on Xbox 360.

Xbox Live connection problems

If ENCORE Play isn't functioning smoothly on your console, you may have a connectivity problem. See Troubleshoot Xbox 360 connection to Xbox Live.

If your Xbox 360 console isn't providing good-quality video or audio, see Xbox 360 audio or video problems.

The ENCORE Play doesn't respond

If the ENCORE Play doesn't respond, delete and reinstall it. Here's how:

  1. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to settings and then System.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Select your primary storage device.
  4. Select Games and Apps.
  5. Find and select any items that refer to "ENCORE Play."
  6. Select Delete. Confirm that you want to delete the item.
  7. From the Dashboard, go to apps and then to Browse Apps or Search apps.
  8. Select the ENCORE Play app.
  9. Select Confirm Purchase to download and install the app.

If the problem isn't resolved, please contact Xbox Support.

Error messages

You may get one of the following error messages when you try to use the ENCORE Play app.

Connectivity errors

  • Sorry, the ENCORE Play server isn’t available right now. Please select the retry button below or try again later. For more information, go to www.xbox.com/status.
  • The Application has encountered an unexpected error and will now exit.
  • Sorry, the ENCORE Play server isn’t available right now. Please select the retry button below or try again later. For more information, go to www.xbox.com/status.
  • ENCORE Play Server unavailable.
  • A server or network error has occurred. Please try again later.
  • An unknown error has occurred.
  • An internal error has occurred.

Go to Service status to make sure there's no current issue with the service.

If there’s no issue and you receive this error message when you try to launch the ENCORE Play app or content within the app, wait for approximately one minute. Then, try to launch the app again.

If you continue to receive this error, please delete the ENCORE Play app and reinstall it.

If this doesn't resolve your problem, please contact Xbox Support.

Application errors

  • The item you were looking for is no longer available.
  • The video cannot be played at this time.
  • A missing data error has occurred.
  • Sorry, the video you were interested in is no longer available.

If you get one of these errors, wait for approximately one minute. Then, try to launch the content again.

If you continue to receive this error, please return to the previous menu and select a different piece of content to watch.
