Kinect PlayFit app

Manage your exercise information on your Xbox console

What is the Kinect PlayFit app?

The Kinect PlayFit app lets you store and manage your exercise information, track your progress on fitness games and apps, and share your results with friends on Xbox Live.

To learn more about how your fitness attributes and exercise stats are stored and shared, see Manage your Fitness on Xbox 360 information and privacy settings.

How do I get the Kinect PlayFit app?

Follow these steps to install the Kinect PlayFit app on your Xbox 360 console:

  • On your console, sign in with your Xbox Live gamertag.
  • Go to Apps and select Browse Apps.
  • Browse for Kinect PlayFit.
  • Select Kinect PlayFit to download and install the app. After the download, the app starts automatically.

To start the Kinect PlayFit app later, go to Apps, then My Apps, then Kinect PlayFit.

What games are currently supported?

Many of the games that use Kinect support fitness tracking. You can see which games support fitness tracking from within the Kinect PlayFit app:

  • From your console, select Apps, then My Apps, then Kinect PlayFit.
  • Select Supported Games.

You will see a list of Kinect titles that support fitness tracking, plus the number of calories you’ve burned in each game.

How do I clear my fitness information?

Follow these steps to clear all fitness information that has been collected by the Kinect PlayFit app:

  • On your console, select Apps, then My Apps, then Kinect PlayFit.
  • Select Options.
  • Select Clear Data.
  • Read the warning, and then select Continue to clear your fitness information (or Cancel to retain this information).

Note This clears game-specific data that has been collected by the Kinect PlayFit app. If you want to change or delete profile-based information (like your exercise attributes), see Manage your Fitness on Xbox 360 information and privacy settings.

If my physical attributes change, how does that affect my calorie count?

Your height, weight, age, and gender are used to build a mathematical profile to more accurately calculate the number of calories you burn with each specific action. If your real-world attributes change from those stored in your Xbox profile, the estimate of calories burned will inaccurate. Keeping your settings up to date on your Xbox console will ensure that you have the most accurate estimate of calories burned.

Follow these steps to update your attributes:

  • Sign in to your profile (either local or Xbox Live).
  • From your console, select Settings, then Profile.
  • Select Manage Exercise Info.
  • Select Enter Attributes.
  • Follow the instructions to change your attributes.

How is fitness tracking handled across more than one Xbox console?

Your exercise information is stored as part of your Xbox Live profile and can be accessed from any Xbox console when you sign in to Xbox Live.

To review or change the privacy settings for your exercise information or to learn more about how your fitness attributes and exercise stats are shared through Xbox Live, see Manage your Fitness on Xbox 360 information and privacy settings.

Note The number of calories you burn is based on a combination of your physical attributes and information provided by the games you play. You may see some variance in calories burned when you switch between Xbox consoles, as the specific information provided by the game may not be universally available.
