Error messages

You may get one of the following error messages when you try to use the MTV app.

  • Sorry, the item you're interested in is no longer available.

    Solution:

Wait about a minute and then try to access the content again. If you continue to get the error, select something else to watch.

To report the error, email MTV.

  • Your console Ratings system is not supported by the application. The application only supports US Ratings system. You can turn off content controls in Settings, Family.

    Solution:

This message means that either your locale is not set to the United States or there is an issue with content controls (also known as parental controls). To resolve this error, first make sure your region is set to the United States. For help, see Xbox 360 Dashboard displays text in the wrong language.

If you continue to get this error even with your locale set to United States, there may be an issue with content controls. To work around the error, you can try turning off the content controls. Here’s how:

    1. On your console, go to settings and select Family.
    2. Enter your pass code to continue.
    3. Set Content Controls to “Off.”

For more information about content and parental controls, see Xbox 360 console parental controls.

To report the error, email MTV.

  • Sorry, the MTV server isn’t available right now. Please exit the application and try again later. For more information, go to www.xbox.com/status
  • Sorry, the MTV service isn’t available right now. Please try again later. For more information, go to www.xbox.com/status
  • The Application has encountered an unexpected error and will now exit.

    Solution:

Go to Service status to check for current issues with the service. If there are no reported problems and you get one of these error messages when you try to start the MTV app or access content in the app, wait about a minute and then try again.

If you continue to get the error, delete and reinstall the MTV app.

If the problem is not resolved, contact Xbox Support.

Note MTV is responsible for all issues relating to content within the MTV app. You can contact MTV by email.
