Set up the NAT GEO TV app on Xbox 360

Learn how to set up and watch NAT GEO TV programs on Xbox 360.

App requirements

To watch NAT GEO TV on your console, you need the following:

  • To be signed in to an Xbox Live account.
  • At least 130 megabytes (MB) of available storage space.
  • An approved TV provider.

Download the NAT GEO TV app

  1. On your console, sign in with your Xbox Live gamertag.
  2. Go to apps, and then select Browse Apps.
  3. Browse for NAT GEO TV.
  4. Select NAT GEO TV to download and install the app. Once installed, the app automatically starts, and you can browse through and view details about the available content.

To start the NAT GEO TV app later, go to video, select My Video Apps, and then select NAT GEO TV.

Sign in with your TV provider

  1. Go to the Activate Nat Geo TV screen, which will display an activation code.
  1. On a PC or other Internet-enabled device, go to the National Geographic TV website and enter the activation code displayed on your Xbox screen.
  1. Select your TV provider.
  1. Enter the user ID (username) and password for your account with your TV provider to sign in and activate the NAT GEO TV app.
  2. If your username and password are correct, you’ll see a “Congratulations” screen on the webpage and your Xbox screen. Select continue to enter the app.

Go to video, choose My Video Apps, and then select NAT GEO TV.

  1. Under featured, you can watch any of the featured programs displayed in the center, or select any of the following:
  • Choose favorites to browse programs that you’ve saved for later viewing.
  • Choose history to quickly access programs and series you’ve previously viewed.
  • Choose popular to quickly browse programs that are trending in the NAT GEO TV community.
  • Choose new to browse all newly added programs from one convenient place.
  • Navigate to nat geo channel, nat geo WILD, and search for more ways to browse.
  1. Select something to watch, and then select Play.

Use Family Settings to control access to content

If you use Family Settings to control which movies and TV shows can be watched through Xbox Live on your console, the NAT GEO TV app will follow those settings. For example, if you prohibit TV-MA-rated TV shows from being watched on your console, those programs will be marked with a restricted icon in the NAT GEO TV app. To play a restricted item, an adult must enter the Family Settings pass code.

For more information about how to restrict Xbox Live content using Family Settings, see Set parental controls for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live.
