Fix SmartGlass connection and performance issues on mobile devices

This article describes how to troubleshoot SmartGlass connection and performance issues on mobile devices.

The SmartGlass app is slow to respond, or you get a slow-connection message

Solution 1: Phones and tablets

Your smartphone or tablet can connect with your console over a cellular network. However, you’ll get the best performance when connected to the same wireless network as your console. Also, you must sign in to Xbox Live on both your console and mobile device. You can connect by using:

  • A local or home network (recommended).
  • A 3G or 4G cellular data network.

The SmartGlass app performs best over a fast and reliable connection.

Solution 2: Windows 8.1 computers

To troubleshoot the connection between your Windows 8.1 computer and Xbox Live, see Connecting to Xbox Live from a PC.

Note Xbox SmartGlass performance depends on the speed of your network connection. It’s also dependent on the processing power of your tablet or PC.

The SmartGlass app can’t find or connect to your console

Solution 1: Use the same Microsoft account

Be sure to use the same Microsoft account that your Xbox Live gamertag uses. If you use a different Microsoft account, SmartGlass won’t be able to connect to the console. If you don’t know the Microsoft account that’s associated with your Xbox Live account, see Find your Microsoft account email address or password.

Solution 2: Enable SmartGlass on your Xbox 360

Solution 3: Change the power setting on your console
